General Notes

  1. We’re looking for short, digestible, left-focussed commentary on current events (anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, socialist).

  2. Newsletter is published anonymously every 2nd Thursday

  3. Use your own voice, but quoting from an article and linking to an article is acceptable

  4. No copying or plagiarism

  5. Regarding previously published - we prefer work that is not available on the internet (no duplicate content) but if you have published the article on your blog, you may partially paraphrase and then link. 

  6. Regarding Op-eds - we do occasionally include Op-eds with author byline.

How To Submit (Choose one)

1. Pitch your idea to editor@thethorn.ca

2. Join our SLACK and pitch your idea (click link to join)  the-thorn.slack.com

3. Send your article to editor@thethorn.ca

How to Collaborate

Join the Thorn SLACK (required) the-thorn.slack.com

A link to the current Thorn Google Doc is provided on SLACK typically in the #newsletters channel. 

WRITERS

Visit Google Doc and type/paste your article in directly.

Choose an appropriate photo if possible, resolution no higher than 1500px.

Put a Note in Slack and/or beside the article title when you've added an article

EDITING

Approve edits with the person who contributed the item

Use “Suggesting” feature when editing -  top right

For big edits or questions, place note in Slack

PUBLISHING

Goal to publish by 12 noon
